Time to Truly Own It.

Female business owners consistently say OMP was one of the most important things they’ve done. Not because OMP was designed for women. Because the self-doubt, the invisible contribution, the competing demands — OMP cuts through all of it.

Kelly Newton (OMP27) is Director at her family business Keppel Eats, founder of Cattleman’s, board director — and mum to a young family.

After more than three years on the Owner Manager Program mailing list, Kelly shares why she finally committed, how she made it work alongside business and family, and why she believes the OMP is a must-do for owners once the time feels achievable.

The Real Challenges Female Business Owners Face

These aren’t small things. They’re structural patterns that shape how female business owners experience — and underperform in — their own businesses. OMP addresses them directly, not by talking about them, but by creating the experiences that dissolve them.

The Visibility Problem

Doing the work but not being seen as the owner. Many female business owners have spent years running critical parts of the business — often the parts that keep it alive — while a spouse, partner, or co-director is the external face. The contribution is real. The title and authority are often not. OMP puts you in the room as the owner. Full stop.

imporsture syndrome

Knowing the answer but not trusting it. Female business owners disproportionately experience the feeling that they’re not quite qualified enough, experienced enough, or legitimately ‘owner’ enough — despite the evidence to the contrary. OMP doesn’t fix this by affirmation. It fixes it by putting you in enough challenging conversations with enough credible peers that the doubt simply doesn’t survive the evidence.

The Competing Demands Problem

Running the business and the home. Three days away is not a small ask when you’re also the person who manages school, meals, appointments, and the thousand invisible tasks that keep a family functioning. Most female business owners carry this load without acknowledgement. OMP requires you to put it down for three days — and the owners who do it consistently say it was one of the best decisions they made.

Underestimating Your Own Capability

Selling yourself short in your own business. It’s common for female business owners to attribute their business success to the business, to their partner, to timing, or to luck — and to underweight their own role in creating it. OMP creates the context for you to see what you actually bring with clear eyes — and to stop discounting it.

The Different Perspective Problem

Seeing things others don’t — but not being heard. Female business owners often see opportunities, risks, and people dynamics with a clarity and nuance that their male counterparts miss entirely. The problem isn’t the insight — it’s that the insight isn’t always acted on, because the owner who holds it hasn’t yet built the authority and voice to make it land. OMP builds that.

No Space for Your Own Development

Everyone gets invested in except you. Female business owners who are also managing a home and family often find that there is simply no space carved out for their own professional development. They invest in their team, in the business, in their children’s development — and are consistently last on the list when it comes to investing in themselves. OMP is the deliberate act of changing that.

You already know what you're capable of.
OMP is where you stop doubting it.

What Female Business Owners Say Changes After OMP

OMP is not a program about gender. It’s a program about ownership. But again and again, the female business owners who have been through OMP name the same specific shifts — changes that go beyond strategy and into something more fundamental about how they show up in their business and their life.

01

OWNING THE ROOM

The shift from contributing to the business to leading it — with the authority, presence, and confidence that commands genuine respect from partners, team, and peers. Not performance. Actual ownership.

02

TRUSTING YOUR JUDGEMENT

The ability to see something clearly, say it directly, and back it without waiting for permission or consensus. Female business owners who complete OMP consistently report that they stop second-guessing the things they’ve always known.

03

sEEING THE BUSINESS DIFFERENTLY

OMP exposes you to other private business owners from completely different industries. For female owners who have often only seen their own business, this opens up a perspective that permanently changes how they see their own opportunity — and their own role in it.

04

A Peer Group That Gets It

The confidential cohort of 20 business owners that you work through OMP with becomes one of the most valuable things that comes out of the program. A network of people who understand the real weight of ownership — not career ownership, actual ownership — with real stakes.

05

Strategic Clarity

Many female business owners have been so immersed in the doing of the business — often in roles that support everyone else — that they haven’t had the space to think strategically about where it’s going. OMP creates that space for the first time, with structure and accountability behind it.

06

Permission to Invest in Yourself

Perhaps the most underrated change: female business owners leave OMP having experienced — probably for the first time in a long time — what it feels like when their own development is the priority. And they carry that permission into everything they do next.

About those three days away...

OMP runs in residential blocks of three days and two nights, five times over five months. For female business owners who are also managing a home and a family, this is often the first real hurdle — before they’ve even considered the program content.

We’re going to say the obvious thing: three days away is hard to organise when you’re the one holding everything together. It requires planning, support, and the willingness to accept that things might not run perfectly while you’re gone. Most female business owners who do OMP have to overcome this barrier — sometimes significantly — to attend each session.

Here’s what they consistently say: the three days away is part of what makes it work. Not just because it creates space to think. Because the act of prioritising your own development — the planning required, the support asked for, the commitment to show up anyway — is itself a significant step in becoming the owner you’re capable of being.

The difficulty of getting there is not a reason not to go. For many women, it’s the most important reason to.

What female OMP alumni say about the decision to go:

How the Program Works

OMP runs across five residential modules, each three days and two nights, over five months. Each module builds on the last — moving from self-awareness and financial clarity through to strategic vision, leadership, and the business that operates without you. Between modules, you’re implementing. You’re working. And you have a cohort of other owners doing exactly the same thing.

Who Should Attend?

OMP is for owners of privately held businesses with $5m–$100m in annual revenue who are serious about developing themselves as the leader their business needs. There are no prerequisites beyond genuine ownership and a willingness to work.

If you’ve been running — or co-running — a business at this scale and have never made your own development the priority, OMP is for exactly this moment. The question is whether you’re ready to stop being last on your own list.

What You'll Leave With

OMP works across six dimensions of a successful private business. For female business owners, each of these dimensions has a specific texture — shaped by the experience of having often operated in the background, carried more than your share, and under-claimed your contribution. OMP addresses all of it.

01

Strategic Vision You Own

Move from executing on someone else’s vision to building your own. Develop a clear, articulated picture of where the business is going — one that you’ve constructed, that you believe in, and that you can lead others toward with conviction.

02

Leadership Presence

The ability to walk into any business conversation — with your team, your partner, your bank, your customers — as the owner of the business. Not hesitant. Not qualified. Fully present, fully credible, and fully in command of your own perspective.

03

Clarity on Your Value

A clear-eyed, evidence-based understanding of what you specifically bring to this business — the perspective, the judgment, the relationships, the thinking — that no one else brings. And the ability to claim it without apology.

04

Financial Fluency

Full command of the numbers in your business — not just what they are, but what they mean and what to do about them. OMP owners leave able to lead financial conversations, hold others accountable to performance, and make capital decisions with confidence.

05

A High-Performance Team

The ability to attract, develop, and hold to account the people who will execute your vision. For female owners who have often defaulted to carrying more than their share, OMP builds the capacity to genuinely lead others — and to let them carry it.

06

A Business That Works Without You

OMP reorients female business owners from operator to owner — building the systems, the people, and the thinking that means the business can perform even when you’re not in it. Which is, ultimately, what ownership means.

Why we talk about this directly

Rob Douglas and Chris Robinson have been running OMP for over 15 years. In that time, they’ve worked with hundreds of private business owners across every industry — and they’ve seen, repeatedly, what happens when a female business owner walks into OMP carrying the full weight of running a business while being largely invisible in it.

They’ve watched owners arrive uncertain of their own standing and leave with a clarity about their capability and their right to lead that changes everything. They’ve also watched female owners talk themselves out of coming — because of logistics, because of guilt, because of the sense that everyone else’s needs come first.

This page exists because the pattern is real, it matters, and it deserves to be addressed directly. OMP is not a program designed for women. It’s a program designed for owners — and the female owners who have been through it consistently say it was one of the most important things they’ve done.
